Security Systems Essay Example for Free

Security Systems Essay Framework protections are a fundamental necessity in PCs where an extraordinary issue in arrange security is experienced. There are more complexities in the dissemination and cluster of PC arrange interconnections. This is normally knowledgeable about various situations. Henceforth there is the requirement for having techniques for tackling the issue of framework security. This is done through having a system interference disclosure where assaults are distinguished and the essential estimates mulled over. The three kinds of PC security conventions examined in this paper are the Teredo convention, the HTTP convention and the SSL and TSL conventions. The security ramifications of these conventions are talked about in this paper. The PC security conventions are applied in various zones relying upon the security convention. The distinguishing proof of these conventions gives security concerns where the control of security is required. There is have to diminish insurance top to bottom and allowing for spontaneous traffic in the PC frameworks security controls (Aquino et al, 2008). Kinds of Protocol SSL TLS (Secure Socket Layer Transport Layer Security) convention The Secure Socket Layer is a web convention for associations which are done from one sign to the next. SSL offers fortress other than tumbling of the rooftop space, meddling and duplicating. Along these lines there is validity between the client and the server since the customer can establish an ensured association over the web so as to offer stronghold to the communicated data (Security Protocol Overview, 1999). Because of the expansion in the specification of web and computerized data correspondence, various capacities and workstations require to convey their data in a secured way to blocked off apparatuses and centralized servers. This can be broken by the utilization of SSL since it is all around planned for the reason in a model which is open. There are steps which happen in SSL and they incorporate connecting, affirmation among parties lastly, trading over of the ensured information. TLS (Transport Layer Security) is the most recent improvement of SSL (Security Protocol Overview, 1999). Allude to figure 1 of the addendum. There is guaranteed tact of the information because of the utilization of intense encryption ability. There is clarity validation of servers and customer base because of the utilization of advanced certifications. The RSA calculation utilized by SSL, it is intended to aid the wellbeing utilizing signatures just as computerized inescapable. On the side of outrageous quick encryption and decoding of information for correspondence after a foundation of SSL interface, the reasonable calculation is RC4 (Security Protocol Overview, 1999). SSL can be utilized in any circumstance where assurance is required between two PCs. It can likewise be utilized in instances of demographic server co appointments, financial and development business (Security Protocol Overview, 1999). HTTP (Hyper-Text Transfer Protocol) HTTP offers help of the beginning stage in the framework since it proposes the way of inception of standard and persevering data model complexity succession. In HTTP, there are various classes which are workable for the breakdown of information (Alarcon-Aquino et al, 2005). They are comprehensive of standard which includes customary direct of the framework request which includes no trouble. Change of trail involves adjustment of the location of an organizer so as to make availability to impracticable (Embrechts, 1993). The cryptogram presentation requires that there is implantation of vindictive figures in the extra of messages. Cross-site composing (XSS) offers access to the classified IDs, passwords and usernames from various program casements which are dynamic at the same time. At last, there is the prearranged question language (SQL) which gives adjustment of the index, expelling or even literary theft (Torres, 2003, pp. 8-13). Allude to figure 2 of the informative supplement. Teredo Protocol This convention is intended to offer help to the customer to comprehend a material in a particular report. Teredo convention works by directing IPv4 UDP port for a section of the framework that is just IPv4. There are essential apparatuses which are comprised in the Teredo structures. The parts incorporate customer base, correspondences and servers (Hoagland, 2008, p. 7). Before the sending of parcels to and from remote IPv6 hubs, some passage arrangement correspondence needs to happen. Thusly there are stages which are followed which incorporate, the client finishing the capability methodology so as to set up the location of Teredo. Besides, the customer needs to figure out which hand-off to use for a given IPv6 per hub. The a short time later, the bundle is sent through the transfer (Hoagland, 2008, p. 9). See figure 3 in the informative supplement Possible assaults Storage based assaults PC security conventions can have assaults that have the chance of cutting down the framework. The assaults can lead the security framework to line up numerous bundles consequently driving the disavowal of administration. This is on the grounds that the assaults make the real bundles not ready to be conveyed or not ready to arrive at new friends. The security convention can be assaulted by the capacity based assaults. The assault holds data from arriving at its goal (Hoagland, 2008, p. 24). Transfer DOS Delays of data can be experienced when there is a state of forswearing of administration on a system based hand-off. In the event that the hand-off isn't accessible and a bundle is send, at that point there is no specification for the customer for building up another hand-off. Be that as it may, the friend would not know about a hand-off being utilized and would then send a parcel to the location (Hoagland, 2008, p. 25). Server DOS Services can be denied through an animal power assault on the server handling speed or the band width. On the off chance that the security capability of the server has some portion of it as verification esteem, at that point the calculation is vital in light of each capability demand which is substantial (Hoagland, 2008, p. 25). Assault discovery In recognizing assaults in the PC security conventions the arrangement ought to be taken relying upon which model is utilized fro discovery. Discovery models can be hot based model or system based model. The location of assaults in PC security conventions relies upon the model utilized. The models utilized in recognizing the assaults in security conventions may either be have based models or a system based models (Aquino et al, 2008). When identifying assaults with hot based models, the interference/interruption recognition frameworks (IDS) typically settle on their choices dependent on the data which is gotten from either a solitary or various host frameworks. In the net work based model the choices of the IDS are made by first observing the traffic in the system which is associated with the hosts. The PC security framework conventions are dynamic and evolving consistently. This makes it important to utilize a methodology that depends on unbiased systems. The unbiased systems are found to do well in the acknowledgment of example, grouping and calculations of assignments that are equal. This is the reason the unbiased systems are an assortment of incredibly interrelated preparing components (Aquino et al, 2008).

5-Minute Stress Relief Strategies

5-Minute Stress Relief Strategies Stress comes from many areas of life, and stress relief comes in many forms. While some people like using one favorite tool for stress relief, many experts feel that the most efficient approach to stress relief is one that attacks stress from several different directions, utilizing an overall plan of attack for stress relief. An important first step in this stress relief plan is to have one or two quick stress relief strategies that can help you relax your physiology or de-stress your mind, to reverse your bodys stress response?? so that you can think clearly and avoid the negative effects of chronic stress.?? The following are some quick and effective stress relief strategies that can help you do just that: these stress relief activities, once mastered, should enable you to de-stress in under 5 minutes so that you can move on to the next steps in your stress relief strategy or immediately face the stressors at hand. Here are several strategies to try: Breathing Exercises Stress relief breathing is one of the most popular ways of calming down quickly for good reason: breathing exercises can be done by anyone, at any time, with little training, and at no expense! Breathing exercises can also be combined with other stress relief techniques (such as guided imagery or meditation) for added benefits and ease of use.?? PMR Progressive Muscle Relaxation, or PMR, is a technique you can learn that, with practice, enables you to completely relax all of the muscles in your body quickly, thereby releasing tension from stress.?? As each of the techniques that are mentioned in this article, PMR helps you to reverse your bodys stress response quickly. It can also be done at virtually any time or place, once youve learned the technique and practiced it. (Its especially useful for when youre trying to get to sleep.) Exercise can provide a distraction, endorphins and an outlet for frustration. Unfortunately, its not always practical as a quick stress reliever, as the full benefits of exercise are often not achieved until sustained exercise has occurred, and that can leave you sweaty; therefore, you may not use it in a class or at the office, or when youre meeting with clients and under stress. However, in situations where it can work, even a quick burst of exercise (like a quick run up several flights of stairs, or several sets of push-ups) can be useful for stress relief. (Always check with your doctor before starting any exercise program, of course.) Have a Good Laugh Maintaining a sense of humor can relieve stress in several ways. First, there are specific benefits that you get from laughter that can help you relieve stress and even stay healthier in your life. Also, laughter connects people, and social support is good for stress relief.?? More, its hard to stay stressed when youre laughing. And maintaining a sense of humor reminds us that our stressors may not be as menacing as they seem, and probably have solutions, too. For these reasons, laughing in the face of stress can help you feel better in a matter of minutes.

Essay Choosing Sides in Walt Whitmans Song of Myself

â€Å"Song of Myself† is an attempt by Walt Whitman to become the â€Å"American poet† as described by Ralph Waldo Emerson; he attempts to be â€Å"[T]he sayer, the namer, and [representative] of beauty† (Emerson 1182). Whitman wants to speak to and for America. Whitman does not explicitly choose sides on the slavery debate that was raging at the time of his writing, but he does express the equality of all people, regardless of gender and race in â€Å"Song of Myself†. While Whitman’s writing can be read as neutral but â€Å"Song of Myself† is, in reality, very anti-slavery and pro-equality. In â€Å"Song of Myself† Whitman attempts to speak on behalf of the entire American population. He tries to pull the reader into a world of many possibilities. He believed in equality. Whitman uses the grass as a metaphor to imply that all people are connected. Whitman uses the grass to represent things he cannot explicitly name. People are all different, individual, but the blades function together. Everyone is needed to make up the grass; one blade cannot stand-alone. The grass encompasses all of America, regardless of race, gender, or religion. Grass grows everywhere there is water and touches everyone. This is one of the ways Whitman seeks to appeal to everyone through language. Whitman also seems to be much more anti-slaver than pro-slavery. While he never says explicitly that black people are equal to white people, he does imply it several times. In section six when he is speaking about grass he says, â€Å"Growing among black folks as among white† (Whitman 2214). Following the metaphor that the blades of grass are all people, functioning together, this implies that black people were equals in the eyes of Whitman. They too, were just blades of grass, individual parts of the whole American population, growing everywhere they could. Self Reflection Paper - 891 Words

Finding the right words to describe my adolescent life is nothing short of impossible. When looking at myself, I did not know who I truly was and lacked direction in life. In essence, my teenage years were tough. When I was growing up, as most girls do, I struggled with self-esteem, particularly in regards to my physical image. Turning to food was always comforting, which in turn led me to become an overweight teenager with no self-esteem or drive. During my sophomore year of high school there was a turning point; I reflected on myself physically and emotionally and realized I needed to change my outlook in order to go towards what I wanted. My courses were unexpectedly rigorous, which eventually led me to not meet the requirements in order to be accepted into the dietetics program. Many people told me thi s was not what I was meant to do or that I should just change my career path into something easier. Their ideas just fueled me more to keep going for my dream of being a registered dietitian. I then changed my concentration of study to Community Nutrition, where I received the opportunity to educate low-income populations on nutrition without the credentials of a registered dietitian. This opportunity gave me the chance to teach children that may not have the opportunities I had to fall in love with nutrition. It could be the chance that changes their lives like nutrition did mine, and that was all the motivation I needed. This unexpected shift in life events encouraged me to volunteer within the nutrition field. I first gained experience as a volunteer for the New Brunswick 4-H program, where I taught nutrition lessons to school-aged children. Over the summer, I began to volunteer for the Middlesex County SNAP-Ed/EFNEP program, formerly called the Food Stamp Program. Question: Discuss about theCommunication Skillsfor Advertisement. Answer: Introduction Advertisement is the form of marketing communication towards promoting the products and services to the customers. However, may customers are now encouraged to read online reviews before purchasing any product or service. This study will compare the influence of company advertisement and online reviews on consumer purchasing decision. Moreover, the study will select five annotate bibliographies like journal, magazine and website towards comparing company advertisement and online reviews. Discussion Chen, M. 2016. Can two-sided messages increase the helpfulness of online reviews?.Online Information Review, 40(3), pp.316-332. This journal article has emphasized on the benefits of two side messages of online reviews for the customers. In online review system, along with receiving the features and benefits of the products and service, the customers can also get the actual experience of the products and service. As per Chen (2016), the user generated contents hold more true information than the company generated content, as the users have no intension to tell lie about the products or services. On the other hand, todays consumers have a concept that company advertisement often contains biased information simply for motivating customers towards purchasing its products or services. Hence, the consumers believe more on online review for getting the actual quality and effectiveness of the products and services. Tsao, W. 2014, "Which type of online review is more persuasive? The influence of consumer reviews and critic ratings on moviegoers",Electronic Commerce Research, vol. 14, no. 4, pp. 559-583. Consumer buying behavior has changed dramatically over the last twenty years. Organizations are not only restricted within simply making attractive advertisement for attracting the customers. With an intension to get deeper knowledge about consumer purchasing behavior, the organizations are providing the options of online review for their products and service. Tsao (2014) pointed out that online reviews are more influential on consumers towards shaping their attitude and behavior about the products. The effectiveness of communication in online review is powerful to persuade consumer buying decision than the tradition company advertisements. Moreover, in online review, customers can judge and evaluate the products and services based on practical experiences. On the other hand, company advertisements just provide an overview of the product and service features. Hence, consumers are more likely to believe in online reviews than company advertisements. Tseng, C., Kuo, H. and Chen, J. 2014. Do Types of Virtual Community Matter for the Effects of online Advertisement and Electronic Words of Mouth?.Marketing Review (Xing Xiao Ping Lun), 11(1), pp.028-050. Todays customers are more inclined to share their experience, ideas and knowledge about the products or services, which they use in their daily life. Company advertisements are more attractive towards attracting the customers through highlighting the good features of the products and services. The customers may not get the actual experience with the products service through company advertisement. Hence, todays customers are not much attracted towards the company advertisement. On the other hand, virtual community of customers is formed through online reviews about the products of services. This virtual community can get practical and actual experiences of their used products and services (Tseng, Kuo and Chen 2014). Hence, customers are high encouraged to view online reviews before purchasing any new products and services. However, this journal article is not much recent and credible on comparing the two variables in terms of attractive consumer purchasing behavior. Hence, this articl e would not be appropriate to use for the purpose of deciding on the statement. Britt, P. 2017,Customer Reviews Require the Right Response, Information Today, Inc, Medford. This magazine article highlights on the facts that todays customers do not just simply rely on company advertisement, pricing strategy and marketing materials of company. Consumers are more reliant on the information, which they see on third party review sites. As per Britt (2017), 90% consumers read the online review before purchasing the products or service. 88% consumers trust on online reviews than the other advertisement process of the company. In online review, along with the positive sites, the customers can also get an idea of the loop holes residing within the products and services. On the other hand, company advertisement is simply one sided and avoids the demonstrating the negative sides of the products and services. Hence, consumers believe more on online reviews than on company advertisements. Accc.gov.au. 2017.Managing online reviews. As per Accc.gov.au ( 2017), online reviews provide extra information to the customers, which is based on the true experience of the products and services. On the other hand, company advertisement does always provide authentic information regarding the products. On the other hand, while comparing with the advertisements, online reviews can provide personal experience about the products and services. Hence, the customers can trust more on online reviews than on company advertisements. Summary While concluding all the annotate bibliographies, it can be said that customers are more inclined to believe on online reviews than on company advertisements. Company advertisements simply provide the overview and good sides about the products and services. On the other hand, online reviews provide genuine information regarding the product experience. Hence, the customers can get concrete ideas about the products and services before purchasing them. Reference List Accc.gov.au. 2017.Managing online reviews. Great Gatsby Essay Example

Great Gatsby Essay Getting Trapped in Ones Dream In the words of the great rock band, The Beatles, it is said, For I dont care too much for money, for money cant buy me love. For his entire life, Jay Gatsby tried to rise up his social economic status to have the girl of his dreams marry him. The attempt to capture the American dream was the main focus of this novel. Gatsby devoted his whole life trying to achieve his so-called dream but failed to do so at the end. He misunderstood the real meaning of his own dream ssimilar to how many Americans misunderstood the true meaning of the American Dream. Copious amount of characters in Great Gatsby did not seem to grasp the concept that The American Dream was Just an illusion. They had not comprehended that everyone could not get what they wanted if they only worked hard. It took more than Just working hard enough; it all depended on ones destiny. The fact that they did not understand that concept and everyone was striving to be living in the dream led them to create fantasy lives. The author showed how one could become ruined by anothers focus on acquiring wealth, power and pleasure. The American Dream was sought to bring happiness to an Americans life no matter how rich or poor they were. The book was an example of how people worshiped materials. They cared more about how people viewed them rather than how they actually desired to be. Once again, the term American dream was an idea that suggested that anyone in America could succeed through hard work and had the potential to lead a happy, successful life. Moreover, hard work did not nly mean financially, but also morally and spiritually. In order for one to be happy, they needed to be able to obtain love above all. For, without love we are nothing; without God, we are nothing. Many people have expanded the definition to include things such as fulfillment and meaningful relationships. Americans, who do not have the life of their dream, the life that they always desired, tried to hide it by making up fantasies and pretending that everything was going great in their life. It is said that love can blind us and Gatsby demonstrated that point undoubtedly. For his whole life, he was focused on having money to be able to marry Daisy, for she was his motivation and his sustenance. Gatsby wanted his dream to become true and, in the long run, that led him to becoming very materialistic. He had the money and he thought that materialistic elements such as his house, his car, his parties and his so-called friends, would lure Daisy back to him. A great amount of the characters in Great Gatsby did not fully know the truth on the American Dream. They created illusions for themselves to pretend as if they had all the three things the American Dream promised; wealth, happiness and power. Gatsby, for example, thought that he had a great life with plenty of friends and no problems. In the end, we found out that he did not have the life he had desired. He was unhappy and he had no true friends. Gatsbys personal dream symbolized the American Dream. He had met Daisy many years before he became wealthy and they were not able to get married because of Gatsby low social economic status. His separation from Daisy encouraged nvm to work nara Tor nls wealtn He started Delng In tne Dootlegglng business when it had been illegal and he made a fortune out of it. Gatsby believed that he could rewrite the past by reinventing himself and changing his name after he had become rich. However, later in the book it is viewed that Gatsbys dream was hopeless for he could never win Daisys love back. Gatsby had believed with all his strength that he could have gotten Daisy back but when he took his dream too far, it only became a harmful and unattainable illusion. The numerous amounts of characters who were portrayed in the book all had the same mentality; it was only money that mattered. One character in the book portrays the exact expansion of the American Dream. Myrtle was living with her poor husband in the valley of ashes and was having an affair with Tom Buchanan, Daisys husband. When she got away with Tom to go to the city, she put on this new mask as if she were a totally different person. She bought a puppy, a magazine and perfume and went to her fancy apartment. Only rich women could afford these things and she was trying to show others that she was wealthy. Myrtle wanted to move up her social class but by being married to Wilson she was not able her to do so. The desire of achieving this fantasy led her to having an affair with Tom, she felt like he could give her all she wanted, owever love was not part of the deal. All this made her blind and clueless about how she was Just a toy on the side for Tom, for, she strived for this wish so much. Daisy, on the other hand, was also blinded by the truth. She could not decide who she wanted, Tom or Gatsby? She had a dream of being wealthy and being happy, like the American Dream had portrayed. She was aware of Toms mistress and she was always trying to hide the truth from ever one else when they started to get suspicious. Daisys fantasy made it possible for her to ignore the obvious signs that er mmarriage was falling apart. Surprisingly, even Tom makes up his little fantasy life with Myrtle. He could have had a wonderful mmarriage, with a beautiful wife and daughter but chose to decide that wasnt enough. Those two women in his life did not satisfy him and he wanted a third, Myrtle Wilson. Tom wanted to have power over everyone and since Myrtle was in a lower class than he was, she was perfect. He had always wanted to have more than every one else. Every character in the book wanted to have a happy and successful life and by wanting that they acted as if all their roblems were not a minor or some were nothing at all. The Great Gatsby portrays the broken American Dream. Though many peoples dream chattered into millions of pieces, the idea of the American Dream is still true. Everyone desires something in life and everyone somehow strives for it. Every single persons fantasies all contribute to that of the American Dream. People were striving so much to have a successful and happy life, ended up making up fantasies and lying to themselves. Many did not learn that dreaming too far could have led to the destruction of all ones hard work, which happened to everyone. Great Gatsby Essay Example Great Gatsby Essay ‘The novel paints a world of desolation and despair. ’ How far and in what ways do you agree with this view of The Great Gatsby? I completely agree with this view everyone is in despair at some stage in the novel and everyone is depressed even if they don’t show it. Myrtle and Wilson are an unhappily married couple, they live in a small rundown town. Myrtle is Wilson’s everything, he loves her so much and everything he does is to please her. Myrtle is having an affair with Tom Buchanan. Wilson does not know about this. Tom treats Myrtle very differently to how he treats Daisy, he treats Myrtle with no respect.Even though he lavishes her with gifts Myrtle is still not happy. Myrtle is in despair because she wants the life Daisy has, permanently. She will never be happy if her and Tom are only an affair. Yes when he looks after her she has a good life, but when they’re not together she goes back to Wilson and her life is dull again. â€Å"Myrtle Wilso n’s face it seemed purposeless and inexplicable until I realized that her eyes, wide with jealous terror† This is when the Buchanan’s, Gatsby, Nick and Jordan all drive into town for the day.Myrtle sees Jordan in the car with Tom and instantaneously assumes that she is Daisy. I feel that this shows because she is extremely jealous. â€Å"Wide with jealous terror† I think that she is feeling that she is loosing Tom and seeing â€Å"Daisy† makes her jealousy grow. She then despairs over these thoughts while she is locked in her little room. With Daisy and Gatsby now having an affair Tom gets paranoid about whether she will leave him or not. When Tom sees how the act around each other Tom starts to worry more about whether Daisy will leave him and go and live with Gatsby. If she did, then he would have lost the main part of his life. â€Å"The immediate contingency overtook him, pulled him back from the edge of theoretical abyss† The â€Å"theor etical abyss† was the thought of Daisy and Gatsby having an affair. But then Tom, who had made some investigations into who Gatsby was, realised who Gatsby was and what he did and reassured himself that Daisy wouldn’t leave him. This thought still put him in despair because just the slight possibility of losing his wife made him feels that way. Even though Tom and Myrtle is just an affair he really does care about her. This shows that deep down Tom does have a heart and he does care about his actions. â€Å"I heard a low husky sob, and saw that the tears were overflowing down his face† Tom is crying because he has lost Myrtle. I feel that this shows that he really did care for her, otherwise he would be unaffected by the death. The use of the adjective â€Å"overflowing† gives you a better idea of how much he were crying. I think that a small part of the tears could be tears of joy, because now he doesn’t have to have an affair anymore and he can be faithful to Daisy.Wilson is in complete despair when Myrtle is hit by the yellow car and murdered; he out of all the characters is at most despair. He doesn’t have money or popularity to fall back on; the only good thing in his life was Myrtle. â€Å"Then would have collapsed to his knees had not Tom held him upright† Wilson is in despair at the death of Myrtle, she was the one good thing in his life and he lost her. Wilson is weak, â€Å"collapsed†, due to the fact that Myrtle is dead. He is depressed and sad.The way Fitzgerald writes this paints a picture in your head of how Wilson must look at this point. In the novel Nick is probably the character that is in the least despair, he is living with and witnessing all the events that are taking place but he is not living them. This makes it easier for him to be happy, but he is alone. He has Jordan for a short while but he seemed to push her away. â€Å"I’d had enough of all of them for one day† . N ick is in despair with all the other characters, because of their displays of selfishness and shallowness.I feel that Nick is the only character who isn’t obsessed with what others think of them or how they are seen in society. I can relate to how he is feeling at this time. This is another point in the novel where Wilson is in despair. This is where he is worse off and it shows the consequences of the characters. He almost has to deal with everyone’s wrong doing and he is warily affected, along with Gatsby. â€Å"Wilson’s body a little way off in the grass, and the holocaust was complete† This is another quote that shows Wilson’s despair.Fitzgerald uses â€Å"holocaust† which signifies a great destruction resulting in loss of life. When he says this I think he could be referring to the whole novel. Nothing good has come from anything; everything has only resulted in despair and desolation. I conclude that the Novel Great Gatsby paints a wor ld of desolation and despair. Everyone is in despair at one point in the novel. Some are more than others; I think that even though they can all be in a room together they are still all alone in life.

Tax memo Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Tax memo - Essay Example In the case of Acme Corporation and its shareholders, the redemption exercise may imply one or more tests, usually referred to as the three major tests. First is the complete redemption test. Here, there will be an absolute redemption of every stock possessed by the shareholder. Second is the substantially disproportionate test where the vending shareholder must not possess as much as 50 percent of the voting power following the redemption exercise. In addition, the owners voting stock in the company need to be not as much as 80 percent of the company’s aggregate voting stock after the redemption exercise. Third is what has been referred to as the â€Å"not essentially equivalent to a dividend test† (Ronald, 48). Here, the implication is that the redemptions need not be equal to the dividend issued by the company. It is important to note that the shareholder’s constructive, direct and indirect ownership can be considered in the above explained tests. If a shareho lder meets the above tests, the price that the company redeems the ownership will be treated like a normal exchange of sale and this will be recognized as if the owner was only passing this to another person or a third party. If the tests are not met, the company’s redemption price will be taken like the passing was made to another shareholder. Tax cost of a redemption to shareholders does start with if the transaction succeeds for sales or interchanged treatment, also Smith should confirm whether Acme Corporation has accrued return and earnings. If Acme does not have returns and earnings or the company has never acquired another company through merging, which had profit and earnings then the divided treatment cannot come into being from redemption. Normally dividends shared among its shareholders are usually treated as non-taxable return of capital to the point of accustomed foundation of stock, then capital growth from estimated nature of

Marketing concept of British Gas - Essay Example nsive sales team for the company to increase the sales by cover larger areas geographically These philosophies were used extensively in the past but with time the trends of the industry have evolved. The consumers have become conscious of what they buy and are in constant search for the products which cater their needs in the most appropriate manner (Reibstein, Day, & Wind, 2009). Marketing concept is a theory to support the customer oriented philosophy. It aims to cater the customers in the most effective and efficient manner as compared to the competitors. This method of attracting customers and increasing sales aims at increasing the profitability of the customers in the long-run rather than in the short-run (Reibstein, Day, & Wind, 2009; Vargo, & Lusch, 2004). The marketing concept has evolved with the passage of time. The relevance of the concept has increased in the 21st century because of the increasing number of competitors. Entities have to ensure that the products which the y are offering to the customers must deliver more value to them then the value that was delivered when they used a competitor product. The marketers are of the view that maximizing the quality of the product and is increasing the product offering is not sufficient to gain popularity with the customers. The competitors can also somehow manage to offer the same offerings, so in the 21st century the sellers require ensuring that they acquire a competitive edge on the product of the competitor and offer something beyond to exactly cater the requirements of the customers. This practice will attract the customers towards the product (Reibstein, Day, & Wind, 2009; Drucker, 2007). The definition of financial terminology within the market

The definition of financial terminology within the market Did you know what the financial institution is? The definition of financial institution is an organization that invests the chiefly in financial assets such as securities and loans rather than in tangible property. In the financial institutions, there have include many parts, such as banks, consumer finance companies, trust companies, savings and loans, insurance companies, credit unions, pension funds, and the mutual funds. What is the financial market? Financial markets is a market which for the exchange of the capital and credit, it including the money markets and the capital markets. In  business, government  and individuals  often  need to raise the funds. Income  individuals and  companies are  now  spending  more  than they,  so they have funds available to  invest. Individuals and organizations  gathered  to  borrow  money  and  those who have  surplus. The financial market can be divided into two groups, that is money market and capital market. Money  market is a  creation  and suppliers  of  short term funding requirements  and the financial  relationship. The maturity  is within one year. The capital  market is a  market, so that  suppliers and  demanders  to trade  long-term capital. The investors encounter high risks in those securities are including liquidity risk, default risk, maturity risk and inflation risk. These two fin ancial markets also can divide into primary market and secondary market. Next, I want to Identify and discuss the three different ways for transferring capital or fund from savers to borrowers in the financial market. The first ways is direct transfers of money and securities. This will occur when a business sells the bond and stocks directly to the savers without going to through any types of the financial institution. It is the business that delivers its securities to the savers, and who in turn give the firm the money it needs. The second ways is the investment banking house. The investment banking house is an organization that can distributes or underwrites the new investment securities and also help business obtain financing. For an example, the person name Merrill Lynch is underwrites the issue. The underwriter is serves as a middleman. It also facilitates the issuance of the securities. The company who sells the stocks or bonds to the investment bank, the major reason is they want to sells these same securities to the savers. The last ways for tran sferring capital or fund from savers to borrowers in the financial market is financial intermediaries. The financial intermediaries is the specialized financial firms that facilities the transfer of funds from the savers to demander of capital. The financial intermediary is such like a bank or mutual fund. It is simply to transfer the money and securities between the firms and the savers. They literally want to create the new financial products. Here, the intermediary obtains funds is from the savers in exchange is for its own securities. Then, the intermediary will use this money to buy and also hold the business securities. In addition, the existence of intermediaries are greatly to increases the efficiency of money and capital markets. In the financial intermediaries also have many functions. The first functions of the financial intermediaries are to reduce the transaction cost. A transaction cost is a cost that incurred in making in an economic exchange. Usually this is restated of the cost of the participating in a market. For an example, if you are a businessman, you want to open a fruits stall. Lets say you want to sell watermelon. You consider buying the watermelons from a store. To purchase the watermelons, your costs are not only paying for the price of the watermelons itself. Why? Because you need to use your energy and effort it requires to find out what types of the watermelons that you prefer, the cost of travelling from that store to your house, where can you get the stock of watermelons, can get the watermelons at what price, the effort of the paying itself and also the time when you waiting in line. These all costs are really above and beyond the cost of the watermelons are the transaction costs. The second functions of the financial intermediaries are the facilities such as saving deposits, online banking to pay the bills, online checking your saving account, money transfer and others that can be liquidity. These all are provided generally by credit unions, banks, and the finance companies. The next function of the financial intermediaries are risk sharing. While, the risk sharing is a risk management method in which the cost of the consequences of a risk is distributed among with the several of the participants in an enterprise. Next, I want to explain about the classes of intermediaries. There have seven classes of the intermediaries. The first classes are commercial banks. Commercial banks is the traditional finance  department store  into a  wide variety of  savers and borrowers. Expanding  the services provided,  including stock  brokerage services and  insurance coverage. Commercial banks are quite different from the investment banks. Commercial banks can lend money, while an investment bank is help companies to raise the capital from other parties. The second classes are savings and loan associations. This is the served individual savers and residential and commercial mortgage borrowers. It takes the fund of many small savers and then will lend this money to the home buyers and other type of borrowers. In the analysis of credit, it is setting up a loan, so that the collections of personal savings are more than expertise, so they reduce the costs and improve the availability of real esta te loans. The third classes are mutual savings banks. This is similar with SLs, operate the primarily in the northeastern states, and accept the savings primarily from individuals. It also lend the mainly on a long-term basis to the home buyers or consumers. The next classes are credit union. Credit unions are the members of the association  of their cooperation  should have a  common bond. The members savings are loaned only to other members, usually is for the home improvement loans, auto purchases etc. Its often the cheapest source of the funds available to the individual borrowers. Other classes are the pension funds. It means the retirement plans are funded by corporations or government agencies for their workers and the administered primarily by the trust departments of commercial banks or by life insurance companies. There have two plans of the pension funds, defined benefit plans and defined contribution plans. Another class is the life insurance companies. That is the participate in the annual  premium  in the form  of  savings, real estate, bonds, mortgage  loans, investment  in stocks,  ultimately  these funds  to the insureds  payment to the beneficiary  parties. The last classes are mutual funds. The mutual funds are the corporations that accept money from the savers and then they use these funds to buy the stocks, long-term bonds, or short-term debt instruments issued by business or government units. The pools funds and thus reduce the risks by diversification. The different funds  of different types of  savings  designed to meet  those  goals. There are literally thousands of different mutual funds with dozens of different goals and purposes. In this assignment, I had already explain the definition of financial market, the three different ways for transferring capital or fund from savers to borrowers and also the classes of intermediaries. I know that the financial institutions are very important not just for a businessman, also for everyone.

Welch On Management :: essays research papers

MGT4121 Week Eight Journal Submission : Chapter 14 Case Study: Jack Welch In a classroom where Jack Welch has appeared more than 250 times in the past seventeen years to engage some 15,000 GE managers and executives, something extraordinary happens. The legendary chairman of GE, the take-no-prisoners tough guy who gets results at any cost, becomes human. His slight stutter, a handicap that has bedeviled him since childhood, makes him oddly vulnerable. The students see all of Jack here: the management theorist, strategic thinker, business teacher, and corporate icon who made it to the top despite his working-class background. The fact is no one leaves the room untouched. If leadership is an art, then surely Mr. Welch has proved himself a master painter. Few have personified corporate leadership more dramatically. Fewer still have so consistently delivered on the results of that leadership. For 17 years, while big companies and their chieftains have come and gone, Welch has led GE to one revenue and earnings record after another. What can be inferred from th is case study is the fact that Jack Welch does it through sheer force of personality, coupled with an unbridled passion for winning the game of business and a keen attention to details many chieftains would simply overlook. He does it because he encourages near-brutal candor in the meetings he holds to guide the company through each work year. And he does it because, above all else, he’s a fierce believer in the power of his people. Welch likes to call GE the â€Å"grocery store.† The metaphor, however quirky for such a large firm, allows Welch to mentally roll up his sleeves, slip into an apron, and get behind the counter. There, he can get to know every employee and serve every customer.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  After being extremely skeptical of quality programs, what’s going on at GE now is Six Sigma. Jack Welch felt that quality programs were too heavy on slogans and to short on results. Yet, Six Sigma is different. A Six Sigma quality level in a company like GE can save a company a great deal of money.

Negative Views Concerning Video Game Violence

There are many different views about video games and the effects violence has on children and society as a whole. Many feel that games are harmful and have no purpose but to serve as an unintelligent and wasteful medium of entertainment. Others feel that games have plenty to offer and will one day be as respected a medium as television, radio or books. Input from both sides of the issue was gathered and a conclusion was drawn based on various studies and opinions. Throughout The course of this report, the issue of violence in video games and the overall worth of games in general will be addressed. There are a lot of negative views concerning video games, particularly of the violent variety. Critics say that violent games are a pretty poison for society, fancy blood and fireworks with no redeeming value. They say that video games take innocent young children and taint them with images of fiery destruction. Many of these critics also see that most of the games on the market are violent and bash the industry for it. Video games are one of the most engaging form of media on the market, there's no denying that. But does the immersiveness of games make them more apt to blur the line between fantasy and reality? Some people say so. At the very least, it is desensitizing, so there can't really be anything good about it. And yet, marathon sessions of Quake have not made the author of this essay into a raging mass murderer, or even any less squeamish at the sight of real violence. Perhaps one may become desensitized to artificial violence, but at the same time not to real world violence. Just how do games effect impressionable young children? Do they effect them at all? No studies seem to be decisive on this issue, but it would seem that upbringing plays a major role in how a video game effects a child's life. Other important factors are the kind of game that is being played, and how â€Å"wholesome† the motives and rewards for killing are. How a parent raises a child really determines everything about a child's young life, and much of what that child will grow to become. If the child can't determine fantasy from reality because they haven't been taught the difference, it doesn't matter whether there is a single video game on the face f the Earth. It is inevitable that some form of media will eventually have the same sort of effect on them that video games would. Rich Fleider of Rogue Entertainment puts it this way: â€Å"Video games are only an extension of human's innate desire to play. Without video games, that desire would only express itself in a different fashion in another medium. † There is no excuse and no remedy for poor parenting and it is wrong to use games or movies or anything else as a scapegoat. Mark Dochtermann of Ritual Entertainment believes that â€Å".. he only thing that can corrupt a young mind is an unhealthy environment in which to grow. Parents who blame their problematic children on Dungeon and Dragons and video games are just beating down the wrong door. † Paul Jaquays, a level designer for gaming industry superpower id Software had this to say about the types of video game violence: â€Å"Although I'm certain I'm doing my share of rationalizing here, I tend to categorize it into two distinct classes: A) Violence against the enemy: War in the name of self defense, necessary actions against violent criminals. B) Violence against the innocent: Acts of violence against non-aggressors, bystanders, children, or those committed as a part of a game which glorifies crime, etc. The former, in game terms, is acceptable to me. The latter is not. Some recent games such as Carmageddon, Postal, and Grand Theft Auto fall into the latter. † Most people find the irreverent treatment to innocent people in these games quite offensive, and for good reason. If any kind of video game violence is harmful â€Å"Type B† violence is definitely that kind of video game What is the worth of video games? â€Å"I just don't understand the point of those games,† many say. Well, that's a valid comment from someone who has never played a game. Anyone who had played a game for any decent amount of time would understand their appeal. They provide hours of entertainment, improve hand-eye coordination, act as a form of communication and help people learn helpful skills. On top of that, many people believe that games provide a positive way to purge anger and frustration. The entertainment value of some video games is tremendous. Just ask anyone who has played Threewave Capture the Flag for Quake, or spent sleepless nights feeding their chronic addiction to Civilization. Raven Software's Jon Zuk had this to say about video games as entertainment: â€Å"Some games are time-wasting entertainment, and that's not a bad thing. The people who complain loudest about games should probably sit down and play one. They might (GASP! ) actually enjoy it,†. Games are a good way for kids to develop good hand-eye coordination and good timing. Without killer reflexes and good aim, one will find some difficulty trying to conquer any action game. Killer reflexes and good aim not only serve to make you better at video games but can help in sports Video games are a good way for people to communicate and make friends. In the words of Dave Taylor, owner of Crack dot Com, â€Å"You can make friends. Ever played a net game and then told stories about how you managed to sneak the commando in unseen and blow up their power plant in C&C? Or retold the beautiful long-range kill you made with a rocket from high atop a ledge in Quake? You can also make friends by going out and drinking beer, smoking cigarettes and partying all night, which can lead to liver disease, lung cancer and depression. As stupid and worthless as some people make games sound, I think games are a more intellectual alternative than the standard way to make friends. † Games can also provide a lot of valuable skills that are transferrable to every day life. With the exclusion of learning how to circle strafe and rocket jump, games can teach you a variety of useful tidbits. Dave Taylor has this to say about the kind of things you can pick up by playing games: Adventure games can teach problem solving skills, useful for learning how to research and how to â€Å"get things done†. Strategy games can teach the value of resource management a skill valuable in all sorts of leadership positions. Action games can improve your reflexes, a skill valuable to the military and to athletics. † Games are a method of eliminating stress and anger in a productive and harmless way. Video games may actually be part of the solution rather than the problem. Richard P. Gray a. k. a Levelord says â€Å"†¦ I don't take any grand pride in enjoying the misfortune of others, even if â€Å"they† are â€Å"evil†, but I can not deny this passion is there and I think ignoring it may even be worse than riding it down abstract, non-damaging avenues. † There are many different types of games, and not all of them are violent in the slightest. Why then, do violent games make up the majority of games on store shelves? The reason is not necessarily that game companies are trying to capitalize on violence (Although sometimes that is the case), but that they are limited by design to create violent games. In the words of master game designer Warren Spector, â€Å"We're doing the best we can with the tools available to us in an infant medium. The fact is, it's insanely hard to mimic human behavior on a computer. Heck, it's almost impossible to make a character walk in a convincing manner. It's really hard to create a world simulation deep enough to allow players much freedom to choose how they're going to react to a situation – it's pretty much limited to kill that thing over there, or talk to it (And even talking is way hard†¦ ). On the other hand, it's really easy to put a monster on the screen, tell it to dodge around a bit and let the player kill it†¦ † â€Å"†¦ I guarantee you will see games where the layer can do more than kill things – we're getting closer every day. † In conclusion, the research done in this project suggests that games are slightly more (To paraphrase the old Transformers cartoon) than what meets the eye. Like Shakespeare was persecuted for his works and like movies and television took their share of heat, video games are simply the newest thing to have all of society's ills piled on top of them. In the future, things will change.

Relationships in a World without God Essay - 2213 Words

Relationships in a World without God In a world in which lives are shaped by irreversible choices and by random events, a world in which everything occurs but once, existence seems to lose its substance. Life in this designless universe raises questions of identity and can cause turmoil between the relationships of the self to others, the self to history, and the self to God. Through the words of existentialist novelists and philosophers Milan Kundera and Jean-Paul Sartre, we witness the philosophical and psychological struggles for identity, existence, and ‘being’ of the characters in The Unbearable Lightness of Being, and Nausea. In connection with other philosophic writings of Heidegger, Kierkegaard, Tillich and Sartre the ideas†¦show more content†¦According to Heidegger, wondering about this basic ontological question opens oneself up to the presence of Being. As stated by Heideggers writings, human being, as opposed to human beings, is comprised of four components: concern, being-toward-death , existence, and moods. Dasein is the act of â€Å"being there† in essence. Without being something, there is no existence. Concern is the ability to care about the self, in relation to phenomena. Being-toward-death represents the finite nature of life. This belief that death defines life complements Sà ¸ren Kierkegaard s thought that God does not exist, but is real. Existence represents knowing one is and is changing. Moods are reactions to other beings, further allowing one to define the self. Dasein requires choices and resulting actions to define the self. These choices allow for an almost unlimited combination of the components of Being. Each choice represents a pivotal point in the individual’s life -- every choice, even the seemingly minor ones, contribute to the larger definition of self. Choices occur in relation to a timeline, universal and personal. These points in time became the topic of Heideggers Being and Time. Heidegger, as with Kierkegaard and Sartre, believed the existence of a physical body preceded the essence of self. At some point in the development process, a being becomes aware that it exists.
